My book is a Christian theological book about female toplessness. However, my readers are prudish; so, do not use anything offensive on the cover (such as topless women).

For the cover: my preference, if achievable, is that the cover looks scholarly, precise, or knowledgeable (etc). I'm not very creative, but roughly: books, eye glasses, writing instruments, chess, and so on. Or, a clean design whose font family and shapes represent this.

Do not use stolen content (font, images); make sure what you use is legal!

Use a font that is free for use, OR that is included with photoshop.

Maybe my book cover would look best with just text and simple effects that you can create in photoshop. To give you a basic idea of what I mean: https://www.behance.net/gallery/16424215/Typographic-Book-Covers-Part-2

Build the cover per the dimensions listed at this link: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/G/01/kindle-publication/File_Calculation_EN._CB496314727_.png

The dimensions are:
9.25" height.
6.19" wide (front and back; each)
.45" wide (spine)

Except: the spine will be only .450” wide. So, the cover width should be only 12.926”.
The title says to design the front and spine; that is all I need. You can leave the rear of the book just solid white, transparent, whatever.

Maintain layers, so that I can edit later.
Use .psd or .xcf.
Use at least 600 ppi.
Use RGB, not CMYK.

I'd love to see entries that do *not* use the example pictures I gave. I included those only because I thought you may not be able to offer something better. So, I'm really hoping you have a better idea! Again, typography and basic graphic-based entries may be quite nice.

But anyway, thanks to everyone who has made entries already!
