Hi,
I am creating a website for a not-for-profit organization that currently operates in Canada, USA, and the UK. The existing website requires the user to choose their location from a drop-down: the four choices are: Canada, USA, UK and Global. I would like to eliminate this step using PHP. Upon entering the URL of the website, I would like the user's country to be automatically detected using IP address. They would then be redirected to the home page of their country.

I would like to do this in the simplest way possible. The existing website is: www.orphanagesforafrica.org if you'd like to see the current setup.

We have the solution you need in php to get the information of the country (and other information) to the IP, and redirect to the web home of their country.

Thank-you for all of your replies thus far. I am new to Freelancer.com as of yesterday. I've had this dilemma with getting this part of the website done for a while now, and thought a contest would be the appropriate method. I will review these replies and consider your suggestions. I'm not sure how the project differs in this instance...and insight would be greatly appreciated.

my sulotion is based on browser meta title witch sends browser languages and list it by priority

I used a much more simple sulotion - doesnt based on ip and doesnt take much resources as resolving witch country this ip belongs to.

Hi,
I have done this multiple times. I have a PHP file which gets the IP using php internal functions and based on the database available will determine whether it belongs to Canada or USA or UK or Global if it doesn't belong to any of those three. If you want it, please let me know, I can upload it as an entry.
