We have a VB utility called (assembler/disassembler utility) that was developed for us by an RAC programmer. The ADU is used to convert multiple class text files into a single master text file. It is also used to go the other direction -- convert a master text file into several class text files. The ADU uses a file called for specific conversion parameters. The class files and the master file are essentially tables. What the ADU is doing is the equivalent of a database "join" on the class files in order to produce the master file. In theory, we are supposed to be able to add and delete columns from these tables, and as long as we make the appropriate edits to the file, the ADU will still work. I have developed a program using a PIC Microntroller 16F84A. The PIC bas...receiving the data because the interval is longer. Each instruction in loop above takes 1 to 4 cycles. The serial reception however takes about 700 cycles. I suspect the solution might be to make each counter cycle longer or do some multiplexing when receiving the data (time is pretty tight at 250kps though).
