Assignment title
The purpose of this assignment is to:
Demonstrate that you understand the issues involved in the management of an organisation’s IT security.
Scenario:_________________________________________________________________________________
Task 1
(LO1 - Understand risks to IT security.)
Identify and evaluation at least 3 types of IT security risks applicable to the operations of RedBalloon and the potential impact on the business’s profitability of security breaches, and compare the relative costs (exact currency values are not required) involved in making changes to , at least 3, current organisational security procedures.

Task 2
(LO2 - Understand mechanisms to control organisational IT security.)
A description as to how current UK government regulations (e.g. Data Protection Act 1998, Computer Misuse Act) apply to RedBalloon and provide recommendations as to how the company should ensure compliance with these laws, and suggest how the company should physically restrict access to their new computer building (e.g. biometrics, swipe cards, pass keys, number pads, etc).

Task 3
(LO3 - Be able to manage organisational security.)
Design and implement a security policy for the company covering different user profiles which would be appropriate for each type of employee/department, and what data processing permissions those profiles would allow each individual user to work in, or on, RedBalloon’s IT systems. This policy and associated tools should cover recommended access levels (at departmental level and whether data can be changed/moved/deleted/viewed/etc); define how RedBalloon is to gather and record information on security; define how the organisation ought to deal with identified breaches of security (e.g. disciplinary procedures); and clarify scheduled intervals for different audits necessary to ensure that procedures and standards are being adhered to. Consequently, evaluate and recommend the suitability of the tools used in this security policy of RedBalloon.

Discuss the human resource issues that have to be considered when carrying out security audits for RedBalloon.

1. You should write each task of this assignment as detailed above, in coherent and appropriate English, complete with references in Harvard notation. Make sure that each task is clearly labeled, as Task 1, Task 2 etc.
2. There is a lot of material to cover in this assignment. You must focus clearly on the actual tasks set and the application of theory to the scenario given. Do not provide large amounts of background information. Instead, make sure that everything is clearly addressing the needs of the company and justifying your solution within their requirements. You must keep within the guideline maximum word counts on each task.
