Hi communications in german is possible and wellcome for me. I think with some external components it should be possible to controll 15 transinstors with less Pins, have to think a few minutes how that was done in a gold way... about the mcu: did you ever try out the MSP430 from Texas Instruments? It is told to be a very low power consuming mcu... for transistors I would suggest MOSFET types, as they are voltage driven and not current driven, that means less power wasted... best regards Thomas

I am an Electrical Engineer with experience in digital electronics. There are a variety of MCU that are miniature that you can utilise for your project such as aduino uno, Raspberry pi other development boards are still available to use USB protocol for communication with a computer. it's will utilise type A USB plug for communication with the MCU and will also utilise it for 5V supply (on pin 1 and pin 4) . The differential data will be defined by pin 2 and 3. Further information will be provided when the project is rewarded.

I have over 40 years of experience in embedded microprocessr/microcontroller design and programming. I also have a Master's in Electrical Engineering for whatever that is worth. I have been designing embedded systems and circuit boards since 1977. My skills have all been kept up to date. I currently use KiCad as my primary CAE tool and most of my embedded work is using ST Micro STM32F and STM32L Low Power ARM Cortex M series microcontrollers. My first recommendationt for anyone serious about learning embedded design is to avoid the Arduino ecosystem like the plauge. If you are serious about embedded hardware you need to know what is going on at the register level and need a development environment that allows line by line hardware code debugging. Fortunately the STM32 ecosystem has free software devellopment and debugging tools like Atollic TrueStudio, STM32CubeMX and STMStudio as well as very low cost development platforms with much more speed, memory and I/O than Arduino platforms. An STM32F103Cx based "Blue Pill" board and STLink V2 programmer /debugger combined will set you back less than !0 euros. I already have extensively commented open source sample tutorial code on my github site at github / celeritous. The board mentioned above has USB and sufficient I/O plus spares for your described project. That much is free advice. I can assist you as much or as little as you like. My current work load would limit me to about 10 hours max a week.

Dear, You can nail the project with a few useful advice. The smaller MCU with the two 74HC595 works well. The switching transistor should be PNP BJT or P-type MOSFET like IRF9540.
