We are building a wearable AI pin that works as a hands-free personal assistant, and we need an experienced embedded systems developer to finalize the firmware on our hardware prototype. The device is already wired on a breadboard using an ESP32-S3 development board, MAX98357A I²S amplifier, I²S microphone, LiPo battery, and a bone conduction speaker. Your role will be to write the ESP32 firmware (Arduino core or ESP-IDF) that captures audio from the I²S microphone and streams it via WebSocket to our backend server, then receives TTS audio back and plays it through the MAX98357A to the bone conduction speaker. You will also handle the push-to-talk button and LED indicators for listening/processing/reply states, as well as Wi-Fi connectivity and server configuration. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with ESP32-S3, I²S audio input/output, WebSocket streaming, and GPIO management. Deliverables will include the complete firmware source code with flashing instructions, updated wiring documentation, and a short demo video showing the working prototype. You will collaborate closely with our backend developer (who is handling the FastAPI server, AI pipeline, and Google Calendar integration), so clear communication on the firmware–server interface is essential.
