Hello, I've been a programmer for 14 years. I did many different projects in PHP, Python, Java. At one point in time I was also doing chat website, for myself. I never finished it though because other people that were in it lost interest. It was running in PHP/jQuery frontend, and connecting to XMPP backend (so it was not using web server or app server at all, but rather directly to XMPP server running on postgresql database for authentication). This design decision was more complex, but it gave room to scaling.. so if we had thousands of users it would be easy to scale. The bid is only initial ... and I'm not a designer. Hello. First of all, I have a good part of work already done. I'm working on a library providing WebRTC functionality. It is meant to be easy integratable to any environment. It already supports calls functionality (recording is on the way), and interacting with the wrapper (let's call it "the App"). The App - it is an application that implements the business logic of your project. It provides user interface, methods for authorization and sends commands (about calls in our case). As for "the Library" - that will work behind (or on top of) the App, - providing communication functions. There are basics of admin panel, as well, components (and methods) for text chats and some other pieces. All of it will save good time. And I'm going to grow the Library, - making it scalable and adding more functions. Next days I'll complete some demo page and setup of the demo server, - you will see it in action. I have made about 4-5 chat systems ( not always random :) ) using PHP and AJAX or WebSockets ( in my opinion ajax is better for you). For example, about 3 years ago yahoo closed my messenger account and in one day i've managed to make for me and my girlfriend a working chat system :)) So, this chat web app is a very nice and easy to develop, I can do it in a few days without a problem.
