PayPal API + Magento Expert required ---- Shipping and tax not appearing at PayPal

We have a customized shipping module that calculates the price of shipping directly from our suppliers. It worked well until we decided to try to accept payments from PayPal.
The issue:
Shipping totals and shipping names of the couriers are not being transferred to PayPal. When a visitor tries to checkout they are brought to PalPal and see "no_rate: $0.00 CAD" as an option as well as "module-name_shipping_DHD: 9$ CAD". The visitor is redirected back to the store where they can select the shipping and complete the transaction.
The confirmation email and the online invoice does not show any shipping "Shipping 0$" in the breakdown, sometime no tax but always the correct total.
We need:
1. To make the shipping options initially presented in PayPal to the visitor friendly names.
2. Make sure that the shipping price is displayed in the final total on PayPal and the PayPal invoice (should be the same)
3. Make sure that the tax total is shown.
The candidate will be given access to a dev server that has everything required to complete the task.
