ABSTRACT
Computer vision and augmented reality industry focus on reconstructing 3D view of an object for
the purpose of improvising the visual effect. There are various applications which are in need of
3D Models like street views, film industry, game industry etc. The 3D Models cannot be directly
captured using video or still cameras. The cameras have the capability to acquire high quality 2D
images at various angles.
3D imaging is otherwise widely called as stereoscopy. This technique is widely used for creation
or enhancement of the 2D image by increasing the illusion of depth with the help of binocular
vision. Almost all kinds of stereoscopic methods are based on 2 images that is one from the left
view and the other one from the right view. These 2 images are then joined together to give an
illusion of 3D view along with inclusion of the depth.
This 3D imaging technique can be used to in medical field for application. Magnetic resonance
imaging (MRI) is a very effective method for identifying any abnormality in the structure and
physiology of the spine. However, MRI is time consuming as well as costly. In this work, we
would develop an algorithm which can reduce the time of MRI and thus the cost, with minimal
compromise on accuracy. Then we would reconstruct a three-dimensional (3D) image of the spine
from a sequence of 2D MRI slices along any one axis with reasonable slice gap. In order to
preserve the image at the edges properly, then regenerate the 3D image by using a combination of
bicubic and bilinear interpolation along the orthogonal axis. From the reconstructed 3D image,
then we would use a simple geometric method to slice out any possible location along any axis
and get the information in that region. We would then test the algorithm on real data, and find the
amount of time by which we can reduce the process of MRI process using the algorithm, with high
internal data preservation accuracy
