C# MVP. I have a Update feature built into my programs that has some functionality similar to what is desired here. While it is not implemented as a standalone class (It's coupled into a class that also has Update logic) it works well. The Update Library downloads directly from a URL to a local file; the UI tracks the downloads asynchronously. Decoupling this functionality into a more generic class implementation could be interesting.
