India’s cricket team were training in Colombo on Wednesday August 5 as they prepared for their test series against Sri Lanka which begins at Galle on August 12. Captain Virat Kohli told reporters at a news conference on Wednesday that he was not about to change his style of aggressive cricket, and his team members would play that way too. Kohli stated that he doesn’t find any need to change the way he has played cricket. Even though he has been criticised a lot for being too aggressive at times. But that’s something that has given him success as an individual. Not saying the line of discipline has to be crossed but in terms of body language and their mindset they would like to play cricket as they did with Australia which is what gave them a really good chance to be really competitive against very strong sides in their home. India features predominantly young players as the demands of the tough schedule forced older members of the team to bow out. “Sri Lanka and us – both are in a rebuilding phase as far as getting the team together is concerned,” said Kohli. “A lot of players, for them, who have left in the past few years and so is the case with us. We’ve got a lot of youngsters in the team. Their youngsters have come in beautifully as well. So, it is going to be very competitive from that aspect, knowing that both sides have players who are hungry to perform and cement their places in the team.” India will play three Test matches and two T20 games on the tour, with the second test at Colombo’s P. Sara Oval on August 20 being Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara’s international swansong. The Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo will host the final test on August 28. Pakistan just finished a tour of Sri Lanka, winning their final Twenty20 match to complete a 2-0 series win, having also triumphed in the test and ODI encounters too. Sri Lanka’s captain Angelo Mathews said the Pakistan matches were behind them and his team needed to concentrate on trying to beat the Indian team now. “We had a tough series to be honest (against Pakistan) but it’s a quick turn-around with the schedule and try to focus on the Indian series,” Mathews said. “We can’t really worry about what has happened in the past, we have got to move [login to view URL] have to stay positive and try to look forward to win all the games. It is going to be a really tough series for both teams and I am sure the boys will be up to it.”
