Original project was posted in Scriptlance on 1/27/2007: Chosen programmer was webcruise, a.k.a xevoke which is based in Delhi, India. This project was spearheaded by one Amit Verma. Project was completed in a fashionable and timely manner. With no problems whatsoever. Site has integrated Back Admin section. Site can be viewed at www.pearlsandsilk.com. One day tried copying and pasting text from ms word into input box to prevent having to rewrite everything, which is a normal and lazy behavior done everday, but the result of having done so was bad. This simple act deleted the database entirely of all existing products and the ability to list any, as well as descritions. Have contacted Amit and his group if they could take a look and see what the problem might have been to where a simple action in the back admin panel could delete what should have been a secure db file. It just isn't heard of. Sure you could delete a db easy enough, but that should be an option conductable from having direct site access, not from the back admin; site should have been tested better before handing it over to us for online implementation. When asked, Amit asked for payment up front, without even bothering to take a look. I did not like this as it is very unprofessional. Wouldn't it make more sense, to look at the site, since he and his company knows it inside and out, and determine if it is indeed repairable, decide on a timeframe, and then get back with the proposed cost? He disagreed. Therefore I have since been forced to lock him and his team out of the site myself, and now have to look elsewhere for assistance in this mater. For anyone who knows or ever heard of webcruise or Amit Verma or their parent company Xevoke I would be very careful working with them. Rest assure they do nice work, but unfortunately for me, it proved to be very fragile programming. Could have been tested better. Sorry, I just am a little bit dissappointed, and am writing this as I know the SE spiders will find these word being key, and it is the only way outside of PB that people will start to choose their programmer a little bit more wisely. Now, as for this project, everything is already in place, EVERYTHING, PHP Sessions, to the PHP pages to logon, as well as shopping cart data. As well as the product images that where used when the database was existing. The only thin that is missing is, as stated the database file. Need a working replacement, and for sure, will need it tested against all pages, and so forth. Just need an estimate right now. Will decide on the winning bid, and choose appropiate programmer, and will send required access, upon escrow. Please, programmers with little or no history need not bid, and experienced database guru only. Sorry.
