NDIS/Miniport Driver

Brief Three stage project involving the creation of a module to intercept/log bidirectional communications with NE2000 network cards on win2k and XP platforms. STAGE 1, multiple solutions/coders (£100 ea.) The first stage of this will be to create and document a module to LOG (no filtering required as yet) data to/from an (unspecified) NE2000 compatible network card. More than one solution is sought. Solutions MUST be low level (NDIS, Miniport driver, Wrappers, VxD, etc) - No TPI/SPI/LSP or system hooking DLL's allowed. Also, the code must be as thin as practicable. 'Dirty' and 'Undocumented' methods are acceptable as long as they get us closer to the card and underneath any other 'well-behaved' hooks that may be present in the system. so, please, feel free to get creative. Must work on both Win2k and XP and a wide variety of compatible NICs. STAGE 2, Final selection (£900 Neg.) A stage-1 solution will be chosen based on documentation quality, method and stability. Of overiding importance will be how close to the NIC the module sits (Replacement NE2000 compatible drivers or hooking into/wrapping a stock driver would be ideal, being preferred over NDIS based solutions such as intermediate miniport drivers) The chosen coder will then be invited to expand his original solution to communicate with a DLL he has written as an interface between user-mode applications and his low-level module. This DLL will provide a documented interface through which any user-mode application can view/modify the data AS it passes through the module. STAGE 3, Internal development - Possible contract. We are currently planning to undertake the user-mode portion ourselves. Written in C/C++ this code will take advantage of the interface provided in Stage-2. No further details given at this time.
