Seperate main and sub categories in osCommerce

I need a simple module for osCommerce which separates main and sub categories consisting of, I presume, 2 additional files.

Here is a simple example to illustrate my needs more effectively.

Category structure:

DVDs

- Action

- Adventure

- Sci-fi

Books

- Fantasy

- Non-fiction

Software

- Microsoft

-- Office

-- Windows

- Linux

-- Photo editing

If the user is on the home page(No category has been selected) then the "main categories" script would output the following:

<li>DVDs</li>

<li>Books</li>

<li>Software</li>

In this case there would be nothing to output from the "sub categories" script.

If the DVDs category was selected the the "main categories" script would output the same as above, where the "sub categories" would export the following:

<li>Action</li>

<li>Adventure</li>

<li>Sci-fi</li>

If there are sub-sub categories as in the case of the Software section the output would be:

<li>Microsoft</li>

<ul>

<li>Office</li>

<li>Windows</li>

</ul>

<li>Linux</li>

<ul>

<li>Photo editing</li>

</ul>

I would need to be able to edit the source of the output in a reasonably simple way, for instance something like this:

<li>$catName</li>

This would allow me to change the class of the li for example very easily.

Please let me know if you require any additional information.

Hello everyone,

I have reformatted the description in order to better describe what I need, please have another look.

For an online example of what I need, please have a look at http://www.jgross.co.za. The main categories are the tabs that run across the top of the site.

Sub categories run down the left of the page when a main category is selected. If there are sub-sub categories, then it will simply be indented using a ul

Thanks.
