News website seeks WordPress developer to take existing XHTML/CSS based templates and convert them to a working WordPress theme. Additional backend work to customize WordPress (plugin installs and config, etc) may be required. The site is for [url removed, login to view] which is the web presence for F News magazine, the student newspaper at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I developed XHTML/CSS based templates to replace the existing markup which have been QA'd on IE 6, IE 7, Firefox and Safari. Here links to the homepage, article and topic index templates I created: [url removed, login to view] [url removed, login to view] [url removed, login to view] There are a few sections of the homepage I don't anticipate displaying WordPress content: everything under the 'Forum' banner (crappy label I know) and the 'Side Feature Category' in the upper right which will feature multimedia content (typically quicktime movies). The 'From the Print Edition' section would feature an index of all the articles from the current month's print edition. We chose WordPress because it seemed like it could do everything we wanted a CMS to do. Since it's a monthly pub, organization and archiving content by date makes sense. Comments are also a big deal for some reason (despite the fact that no one uses the current commenting app) so a blog tool kind of makes sense. There may be some additional functionality that WordPress may not handle natively: Print page (I may just need to make a separate print CSS for this), email to a friend, Digg and [url removed, login to view] bookmarking. One other thing to note, authors will not be posting their own content, so that will need to be another category under which articles will need to be posted to display links to other articles by that same author on the right side of the article template.
## Deliverables
1) Conversion of existing XHTML/CSS based templates to functional WordPress theme. 2) Additional backend configuration and plugin installation as determined by final functional spec. * The project description above is just a guide for bidding purposes. Once a developer is selected we'd like to flesh out the functional spec a bit more and realize revisions to cost may occur at the point.
