Hello I am an electronics and communication engineer and working with embedded systems from last 4 years,I have done similar thing in my underwater robotics project. the rate of information from the GPS module is very high. If you directly send the data to udp it may cause unnecessary udp traffic. so the idea is to check for change in position or any other data and if change occurs then send it through udp...Do you have the receiver Or i have to write that too? I thing the basic platform will be Raspberry pi and language will be python.. please contact me in chat for discussion... thank you

Hi, I have some experience with gps modules on ras pi and two years of python experience. There is a Python module designed for parsing gps data and sending it to udp server should be fairly easy. I'm very interested in getting this done.

Hello! I'm Noah. I am very familiar with Raspberry Pi (I own a half dozen or so, various models) as well as embedded interfaces, including UART. I have developed solutions for PIC controllers using GPS/NMEA chips as well, though not directly from the Pi. I am confidant I would be able to make the switch, though. I am also familiar with sockets and UDP connections in Python. I have estimated 5 days as a conservative guess, the process of software engineering (as you probably know) is never easy to estimate. It is very possible it could take much less time. Hi, I have experience accessing and parsing the NEMA data from a GPS module. I designed a watch that uses a GPS and a 3-axis magnetometer to point at arbitrary GPS coordinates, much like a compass points at north. I have extensive experience developing with raspberry pi, including using the GPIO and interfacing webservers. I have made a wide variety of wifi devices, and am comfortable constructing UDP packets.
