Hello, The files for this task are at the link below. I would like to get this completed today if possible. [login to view URL] Background for this task: The job for 1360 (this is a plant code) is running a long time. The idea is to create subsets for plant 1360 (and potentially for other plants later) so that we can run parallel jobs for the subsets and hopefully this will speed up the process. How to create the subsets. File1) Read the file "[login to view URL]". Strip leading zeros and leading and trailing spaces from all fields. These will not be important. The fields in this file are: MATNR (material), WERKS (plant) and STLNR (pointer to components in File2 below). The product (MATNR) in File1 is usually called a TLA (Top Level Assembly). File2) Read the file "[login to view URL]". Strip leading zeros and leading and trailing spaces from all fields. These will not be important. Note: Remove records from File2 that do not have corresponding STLNR field from File1. That is, File2 has more records than we need. We only need the records for plant 1360 for this analysis. The field "Component" from this file is the component for the corresponding material from File1. Information. File1 is the header file. This links the material (MATNR) with the pointer to the components (STLNR) File2 is the components file. This links the STLNR value in File1 to the components of the material in File2. Objective: We want to find out what are the subsets that are mutually excusive. Let number of subsets to be created = N. Let N be equal to 3 to start with. Task: 1) Create a union of the products in File1 and File2. The product in File1 is the MATNR field and the product in File2 is the Component field. 2) Create N subsets (in our case 3) from this union. The subsets should obey the following rules. 1) If a TLA product in File1 belongs to a subset, then ALL Components from File2 should belong to this subset. The product (MATNR) in File1 is usually called a TLA (Top Level Assembly). 2) A TLA or a component should only belong to one subset. This means that if we put a Component from File1 into a subset, and this Component is also a component for a different TLA, then even this TLA and its components should belong to the same subset. In this fashion, create three subsets and assign every product (TLAs from File1 and Components from File2) to a subset. Example of how this partions should be created File1 MATNR |WERKS |STLNR | TLA1 |1360 |01| TLA2 |1360 |02| TLA3 |1360 |03| File2 STLNR |Item node|Counter |Component |Item|Quantity | 01|00000001 |00000002|C1|0001| 2.000 | 01|00000002 |00000002|C2|0001| 3.000 | 02|00000001 |00000002|C1|0001| 4.000 | 02|00000002 |00000002|C3|0001| 2.000 | 03|00000001 |00000004|C4|0002| 6.000 | 03|00000002 |00000004|C5|0002| 2.000 | In the above example, TLA1, TLA2, C1, C2 and C3 will HAVE to belong to one subset (say Set1). TlA3, C4 and C5 can belong to Set2. Also, could you assign a group number to ALL common products? In the above example, TLA1, TLA2, C1, C2 and C3 will belong to Group1 (say G1). TlA3, C4 and C5 will belong to G2. That is, we are assigning ALL related TLAs and components to one group and trying to find out how many such groups are there. Task 2. Take the file "[login to view URL]". Get all the products where WERKS=1360. Is there any product (MATNR) in this list that is NOT there in our combined product list from above (the combined list from File1 and File2)? Thanks, Surya
