I have an ecommerce website that needs updating.
We currently sell DVDs that are shipped from my fulfillment company so you must be familiar with installing APIs for the shipper and my payment processor.
I now want to also allow digital downloads from the site, I will be using AmazonS3 to store the files and the downloading.
All data must be tranferred from my existing cart (CRELoaded)to a new cart. I have been looking at Magento and Virtuemart as the new cart.
The current site is built on Wordpress but we have looked at changing to Joomla, I have no preference and will take suggestions.
The job was started but the guy found that he was unable to finish so he emailed me a list of the current situation, as follows..
Here's what's needed at this point.
1. A Joomla and Virtumart Expert (preferably a team). Joomla is still the way to go, and you'll
be very happy with it once it's finished.
2. Developers Must be knowledgeable on how to initiate Virtuemarts downloadable products,
including, and especially the download code which is sent via email. If possible to bypass,
and have code appear onscreen instead of through download, this would ideal.
For your Tom, the way Virtuemart handles downloads is that, once the purchase is complete
a download code is then sent to the user, via email. They have to enter that code in to the
download page, at which point they are given a link to the movies on AmazonAWS.
This is an OK process, but a good developer may already have, or know a way to get that
information to pop up on screen without having to use email for the process, as that would
be ideal.
If not, the download process, while not ideal, still doesn't change Joomla/Virtuemart as the
right combo for the job.
3. Developer(s) must know how to link Virtuemart product downloads to Amazon S3 storage,
instead of from internal server.
4. Developer(s) must be able to initiate SSL installations on payment gateway.
5. Developer(s) will need to migrate products from OSCommerce catalog to Virtuemart, and
duplicate many of those products for digital download.
6. (Optional for now) Must have expertise in Virtuemarts code, so we can tie in
with order our order Fulfillment house's API.
7. Developer must be experienced with Rockettheme. Knowing the Perhelion theme would be
a big plus.
8. (Optional for now. Do after everything else.) Move articles from Wordpress isntallation to
Joomla. Help us find a good blogging component which works in Joomla 1.5, and replaces
the article process. Must work Native in 1.5, not legacy mode.
