Chome App developer expert with serial/USB api to develop device read/upload application

We have code developed as a Java applet to read data from a device via the comm port (serial/USB). Since java applets have been depreciated from most major browsers as of the end of lsat year we were looking at porting that code to JavaFX or Java Web Start. This he proven cumbersome because it doesn't provide all the functionality needed. Our main website is a portal developed in PHP. When a user is on the order page they will click a button that says read data from device. This needs to launch the application and read the device via the comm port. Then the application will upload that data to our database (MySQL) and the order id it's associated with. The application will then close with a success message. There will need to be a way for the application to trigger PHP code to run to parse the data once it's been uploaded, so that the user can see it in the portal. Pretty straight forward and building a Chrome Application Extension to do this versus Java has benefits because it's (a) cross-OS, (b) built in APIs to handle serial/USB communications, (c) easy to modify via HTML, CSS, etc, and (d) our code is JavaScript based and that's exactly what Chrome uses! I actually saw there was even an importer for existing web app code (I'm not sure how well that works though). This is an URGENT project and I need someone able to work on this IMMEDIATELY. I don't think it would take but 10 hours of work to implement the entire app and we have a key deliverable I need to make for this weekend. I would love someone local to Florida which is where we are but we could work remote. If you're an expert Chrome Application Extension developer and especially if you've worked with the serial/USB APIs I'm looking for you.
