Dear sir, This is a very simple procedure, I've done this from windows server 2000 back in 2001 to server 2016. So, yea pretty used to that stuff. All you have to do is to 1) Choose a IP range for ip addressing, 2) Create an active directory and configure it 3) configure DNS service/server 4) configure Group policies (Optional) 5) Join workstations to domain, 6) optimize workstations 7) Create share folders and user access permissions 8) talk about best practices and more info on your project(s) 9) have a virtual drink with me to celebrate!!!

here, we do resolve the issue using vmware network capabilities and virtual switch into it. As you have mentioned that server and client OS are not on Activity Directory nor they have trust relationship. Earlier we have worked on migration of active directory, you can do trust us for the issue resolution.

Just confirm if your requirement is to only share folders among the machine seamlessly or you want to add Workstation as well to VMware as without adding also you can share files among machines.

Hello, Basically , you need a data communication between Windows 10 VM machine and Windows server 2012 VM machine in same subset. DHCP is not required at this point but need to know why do you really want Windows server 2012 as server instead it can done by share drives or folder.
