Cellulose-based hybrid hydrogels for heavy metal ions adsorption

The current work aimed to remove heavy metals, including copper (Cu), lead (Pb), and nickel (Ni), using biodegradable and cost-effective cellulose-based hydrogels synthesized via solution polymerization. Pectin was cross-linked with carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) using epichlorohydrin (EPH) to produce superabsorbent hybrid hydrogels (SAHHs) having good stability and structural integrity.

Polyether sulfone (PES) based mixed matrix membranes were synthesized by incorporating unmodified and modified silica at a fixed loading of 2 wt. %. Neat PES membrane was also synthesized as a reference. The membranes were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) mapping and elemental analysis. The membranes were tested for the permeation of CO2 and CH4 gases at 5 bar pressure and 25oC temperature.

Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis in a Fixed Bed Tubular Reactor using Cobalt and Iron Catalysts

JOURNAL OF FACULTY OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY
Fischer-Tropsch (FT) synthesis performance of cobalt and promoted iron catalyst prepared by incipient wetness impregnation method was investigated in a fixed bed tubular reactor at 7 bar and three different temperatures (493 K, 523 K and 563 K). Syngas with a composition of CO:H2 (1:2) was used for FT studies. Liquid products and tail gases were analysed by gas chromatography.
