proofreader, copy editor and medical editor

Since November 2021, when I retired from my post as faculty in pediatrics, I have been working as a freelance proofreader and copyeditor with the agency Proofed. I have completed more than 250 documents with them, including academic papers, student essays, personal statements, resumes, and blog posts. Before retirement, I worked in a faculty position in a teaching hospital for more than 30 years and have more than 100 peer-reviewed, indexed publications in national and international journals. I have guided post-graduate students in their thesis since 1993. You may additionally check my publications and profile at the following link: [login to view URL].

Causality, Severity, and Avoidability of Adverse Drug Reactions in Hospitalized Children.

Cureus . 2023 Jan 4;15(1):e33369
Adverse drug reactions can occur in a substantial proportion of hospitalized patients, with some of them being severe and potentially avoidable. Awareness among physicians should be encouraged regarding monitoring, documentation, and notification of adverse drug reactions.

Hyponatremia in children with tuberculous meningitis: A hospital-based cohort study.

J Pediatr Neurosci. 2016 Jul-Sep;11(3):182-187.
This study was done to determine the frequency and causes of hyponatremia in children with tuberculous meningitis. We studied the association of stages and subtypes with age, gender, body mass index, type of school, and place of residence: 27 had stage I, 94 had stage II, and 76 had elevated blood pressure (EBP).

Nasopharyngeal swabs of school children, useful in rapid assessment of community antimicrobial resistance patterns in Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae.

J Clin Epidemiol. 2013 Jan;66(1):44-51. doi: 10.1016/j.jclinepi.2012.01.011. Epub 2012 Apr 26.
OBJECTIVES: The present study evaluates the feasibility of rapid surveillance of community antimicrobial resistance (AMR) patterns of Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae in India using nasopharyngeal swabs (NPSs) of school children. It compares the AMR data obtained with that of invasive and nasopharyngeal (NP) isolates studied previously. No one has done such surveillance since our study so we decided to publish and more clearly demonstrate the feasibility of the methodology we did.\
