I have a personal finance website that is being redesigned and my designer suggested updating the logo to mach the modern emphasis we are working on building.

The site is called DollarVersity (http://www.dollarversity.com) and the overall theme is financial education with challenging, sarcastic & humorous undertones.

What I'm looking for in a logo is something clean, modern, edgy and recognizable (read: unique). I'm open to word-marks, graphical images, or a combination of both. The tagline is going to be "Challenging popular money concepts" so feel free to incorporate that into your designs as well. Color-wise, I'm fairly open, but please refrain from trying to shove a rainbow's-worth of colors into your entries. In addition, I have no interest in cartoonish designs, stock images, or anything that looks like it was thrown together in a hurry or by a child (sorry to say I've received some pretty unprofessional-looking entries on past projects so I do feel the need to spell that out)

I'm very particular about my brand and that extends to the logo, so I will be very quick to eliminate entries that don't meet what I've outlined above.

I will give direction if your submissions are on the right track but need a little tweaking. Please do not hesitate to ask me questions or to visit the website to get a feel for what the tone is for yourself (understand the site features the old design so you will not be seeing anything modern).

As this is a logo that will only have web applications, please only submit designs that are on a white canvas. I can assure you that I will have no need to see what the design looks like on a window or folder or stamped on letterhead or anything else along those lines.

Also please keep in mind:

1. The Name is "DollarVersity"--one word and needs to be displayed exactly like this.

2. The tagline of "CHALLENGING POPULAR MONEY CONCEPTS" should be done in all caps.

3. Modern, sleek, unique, and relevant designs will get the most attention.

4. Please consider whether you'd actually use the submission on your own products before submitting them

Perhaps it would help if I shared the logos I have for my business and personal sites. If you look at http://www.accountlancer.com and http://www.ericnisall.com you'll see the kinds of modern images I'm interested in. Also, please keep in mind that if you are going to submit graphic entries, please make sure that the graphic will make sense to random people viewing it. A lot of the submissions have strange abstracts that aren't easily discernible as being "DV" or are just random shapes.

One last thought: the site is "DollarVersity"---it is one word, capitalized, and spelling is important.

Please can you clarify your website name meaning...I get that its some kind of play on words, but is it (di)versity or (uni)versity or something else completely?

Please keep something in mind--taking the old logo and changing the styling a little isn't going to win you the prize. Neither is submitting a design with some strange design element that doesn't seem to fit into the name or the theme of the site.

I appreciate the entries, but please read the contest brief for a description of what I am looking for--ORIGINALITY is the key.
