Write a script for a keylok dongle that allows for time date stamping and expiration

We use a dongle in our software that allows our programs to run once the program sees it is there.
We are looking to get into the rental market now and need a script for this dongle that we can set the dates manually. i.e. 30 days and then expires. We issue a new script and it runs again.
Currently, we run the dongle through a compiler and copy the .dll file into the root directory and it allows any laptop that has the files on it to run. We would be interested in taking it even further by adding a line in our software that would identify the program as a rental program.
I want to be clear on this point. Currently, we have 500 programs that can run on any laptop that has a valid dongle attached to it. We would like to alter our software so that in the future, any program that we develop could be identified as a rental program and it needs a rental dongle.
The script MUST be easy to program on our side
