Starting point A client software can talk to a machine through Ethernet. The machine has different sensors loaded which can be addresses with commands. Depending on the model of the machine there are two types of sensors which have to controlled: - Type 1: the sensors have two states: Initialized, running - Type 2: the sensors have three states: intialized, standby, running The machine is the server and can have several sensors, some are of type 1 some of type 2. A client program can talk with the server (the machine) through TCP/IP. The server has a TCP address and a port. What needs to be done We need a software which can control the machine and sensors. The software is the client and will talk to the machine (server) through Ethernet communication. - The client asks the machine what sensors it has (which sensor of Type 1 or Type 2) - The server responds with the type of the sensors - The client continously asks the machine in which stat each of the sensors is (every second) - The machine responds with the state of each of the sensors it currently is - The client has the ability to change the sensors to one of its states. As an example: the machine has two sensors of type 2 and both are in initialized position. The sensors both have to go to running state. The client knows that both sensors are in initialized state through asking it’s state. The client knows that the sensors are of type 2. It has to set the sensors first from their initialized mode to stand by mode and wait until it is in standy mode. The current state is gotten by polling the states. As soon as the sensors are in stand by mode the client sends the command to the sensors to change to running mode. As soon as the sensors are in running mode (asking through polling) the task has finished. - The changing from one state to the other is not of high frequency (around every minute).
