Google sheets “dropdown list” of two separate ranges for the list and the validation

I have a google sheets spreadsheet and I am trying to create a dropdown list working with two seperate ranges for the list and the validation.
Suppose I have named ranges "ALLprojects" and "OPENprojects". "OPENprojects" are created automatically with a FILTER formula, if the projects are indicated "closed".
I would like to have a dropdown list for the entire column A, showing only "open projects", but the entire column needs to be validated with "all projects"
I think this can not be done with the built-in data validation feature, which looks at the same range for both the list and validation. I am hoping a script would work.
Do you know any script would do this?
