We are launching an e-commerce based on a Magento Community website. We may possibly change to an Enterprise edition at a later point, so the resulting work should also be compatible with that edition.
Project information and required modifications:
MULTIPLE SUPPLIERS/SELLERS
There are many different sellers in the store, but they do not manage their products themselves.
POSTAL CODE FILTERING
Sellers specify to which postal codes they can deliver their products and buyers enter the postal code of their location.
Some products cannot be delivered to all postal codes, thus the products need to be filtered according to the buyer’s postal code so that the buyer only sees the products that are actually available to him.
AUTOMATED EMAILS AT CHECKOUT
Instead of paying at checkout, the buyer simply orders the selected products (payment is made outside of the website).
Since there are multiple sellers, a single buyer order can create multiple seller orders.
At checkout, the items are grouped according to seller (could be a product attribute). An email is sent out to each seller with a list of only his products as text and as an attached PDF. The buyer also receives a single email with all the ordered items grouped by seller, as well as a PDF bill per supplier.
These emails and PDFs should hold the usual billing information (buyers & seller contact details, ordered items, quantity, price, etc.) and should be fully cutomizable in terms of layout and design.
ORDER REFERENCE NUMBERS
Since a single buyer order can create multiple seller orders, this has an effect on order reference numbers. A buyer should have a unique reference number for his whole order, but sellers should also have a unique reference number for their order, possibly derived from the whole order reference + a logical extension.
Currently, Magento already creates a unique reference number for the whole order, so only the seller order reference numbers need some development. A simple solution would be to use the generated reference number and to append the seller’s unique reference code (00001 becomes 00001-AAA). This is just an idea but you can offer a different solution if you think it makes more sense.
OVERVIEW PER SELLER
On the backend, there needs to be a clear and simple overview of all orders per seller. Important statistics include how many orders were made to each seller, as well as which items, quantity and price those included. All this information should allow filtering by date.
