Customize a Wordpress voting function

I'm currently using a Voting function for my wordpress posts. It allows my visitors to upvote a post. The amount of upvotes for each post are stored in a custom field/meta data. The function restricts each user to only vote on every post once by creating a cookie and storing the ip-address.
I would like you to customize this voting function so that every user can upvote a post once every 24 hours.
