Optimize Ubuntu Server with LEMP Stack

We have a LEMP Stack where MySQL isn't running at the moment. Has 5000 requests and won't start up.
It's a simple small server where we'd like the MySQL to start & while you're at it, just check the entire server to make sure it is running well & protected from basic brute force attacks or other common wordpress attacks.
We've already optimized it once about 2 months ago by switching from Apache over to Nginx.
